Key Project Experience:
Climate Impact Assessment & Reporting
Sustainability assessment, strategy, and implementation for biopharmaceutical R&D facility – Designed and implemented sustainability initiatives aligned with the company’s Circular for Zero targets, resulting in energy savings, waste minimization, increased recycling, and more sustainable procurement. Received the site’s 2020 Achievement Award for Sustainability and the City of Seattle’s 2022 Platinum Dumpster Award for exceptional waste management practices in a multi-tenant building.
Key Project Experience, continued:
Environmental Compliance
EHS Compliance management system for biopharmaceutical R&D facility – Devised and executed the facility’s EHSS program, encompassing sustainability, chemical safety, biological safety, hazardous waste management, and ergonomics. Focus was on clearly defined, integrated compliance tasks, roles, and responsibilities. Subsequently initiated and hosted inspections from Washington State Departments of Labor and Industries, Ecology, and Health and City of Seattle Fire Department, all with zero findings.
Compliance audits, written plans, procedures, training – Conducted comprehensive gap analyses, formulated strategic plans, and improved compliance management to enhance EHSS performance while enhancing operational efficiency for a wide variety of clients. This process often kicks off with assessment and concludes with creation of tools, documents, records, and reports to support compliance, such as a compliance calendar, SharePoint site, training modules, EHS risk assessments, accident prevention plan, EHS manual, waste management policy, chemical hygiene plan, bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan, emergency action plan, air emission inventories, hazardous chemical and toxic release inventories, hazardous waste reports, discharge monitoring reports, along with other policies, plans, records, and reports.
Life Cycle Assessment
LCA for amino acid use for biopharmaceutical R&D facility – Conducted an LCA of amino acids, which are used in high volume in protein chemistry and implemented changes that resulted in a significant reduction in the amount of plastic packaging used.
LCA Tool for clinical trials – Creating an LCA tool to help investigators design clinical trial studies with less environmental impact, as measured by emissions of CO2e.
